5 Frequently Asked Questions About Boutique Whitening

Home Whitening is a professional teeth-whitening treatment carried out at home under the supervision of your dentist. It uses custom-made trays and professional whitening gel to gradually brighten your natural teeth.

Before treatment, we will examine your teeth and gums to make sure whitening is appropriate for you. We will provide the correct whitening gel and explain how to use it safely. Teeth whitening is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Most patients complete their initial whitening treatment within two to three weeks, although results and timescales vary. We offer daytime and overnight options, allowing us to recommend an approach that suits your teeth, preferences and routine.

Some patients experience temporary tooth sensitivity during whitening. This usually settles after treatment. We will advise you on managing sensitivity and may adjust your whitening routine if needed.

Whitening results vary according to your diet, oral hygiene and lifestyle. Tea, coffee, red wine and smoking can cause new staining over time. Keeping your custom trays allows you to refresh your smile in the future with dentist-prescribed top-up gel.

Whitening only changes the colour of natural teeth. Fillings, crowns, veneers and composite bonding will not whiten, so we will consider any existing dental work when planning your treatment.
